SUMMARY:Walk Talk Kernow Godrevy to Gwithian Walk
DESCRIPTION:Our Walk Talk Kernow Godrevy event will take place on Thursday 21st May 2026. We will meet outside the café by the benches at 10.00am to register.\nWalk Talk Kernow is a FREE adult bereavement support group run by Cornwall Hospice. Whilst walking in nature\, each group provides a space for those who are bereaved and seeking social connections with others.\nKey information about Walk Talk Kernow Godrevy\n\nWe will take a moderate walk of approximately 2 mile circular to the RNLI Lifeguard Station towards Gwithian\, returning to the café for refreshments with the group finishing at 12pm.\nThe Walk Talk Kernow Godrevy walk is at strolling pace (an amble NOT a ramble) along either the high tide line across the beach or via the nature reserve and looping either way before heading back.\nThe café and walk are accessible to most although there some steeper parts\, uneven ground and slope to the beach. Not suitable for wheelchairs or wheeled walkers. If the access over the bridge is impassable\, we will walk towards the lighthouse.\nSuitable footwear and appropriate clothing are essential.\nWell behaved dogs on a lead are welcome.\nPlease ensure you are fit and healthy on the day as you will be asked to sign our registration form to this effect. ** During the summer months it is important to stay hydrated\, please bring along adequate drinks for this reason **\nOur team will be wearing Cornwall Hospice lanyards so do look out for them.\nPlease note: There is a charge for parking. SUMMARY:Advanced Communication Skills
DESCRIPTION:This is a 2 day evidenced based Advanced Communication Skills course.\nThe Advanced Communication Skills course is set over 2 days where the successful applicant will devote to the whole course to enhance not only their own existing skillset but contribute to those of all the group participants.  Each day will run from 9.15am until 4.30pm. \nModels of communication will be addressed\, and the focus will be on the ‘SPIKES PLUS’ model currently in use across most of the country. \nExperience within the field of advanced communication is essential at a senior level and as a base line requirement onto this course. SUMMARY:Advanced Communication Skills
DESCRIPTION:This is a 2 day evidenced based Advanced Communication Skills course.\nThe Advanced Communication Skills course is set over 2 days where the successful applicant will devote to the whole course to enhance not only their own existing skillset but contribute to those of all the group participants.  Each day will run from 9.15am until 4.30pm. \nModels of communication will be addressed\, and the focus will be on the ‘SPIKES PLUS’ model currently in use across most of the country. \nExperience within the field of advanced communication is essential at a senior level and as a base line requirement onto this course. The course is open to all healthcare professionals who are constantly having to deal with those difficult communication scenarios that require the skills to both support and to challenge at times\, those that they face regularly. \nIt is an experiential course which includes role-play for which all participants will take part in live\, as realistically as possible\, the shared experience. \nBuilding upon existing skills\, participants will take away not only fresh and innovative ideas gained from the design of this Advanced Communication Skills course\, but also will benefit from the safety and experience from the trained facilitators throughout. \nNetworking will give an opportunity for the course participants to support each other\, not only during the education and training\, but also post-course\, along with that of the ongoing support as needed\, by the facilitators. \nA certificate will be awarded upon completion of the session. \nLearning outcomes for the Advanced Communication Skills training\nAimed at a senior level of healthcare professional\, this Advanced Communication Skills Course will offer the individual Practitioner: \n\nUnderstanding of the importance of effective communication\nUnderstanding how to reduce the barriers to effective communication\nIdentifying your own communication skills strengths and weaknesses\nUnderstanding the emotional impact on people and their families who are living with disease a potentially a life-limiting illness\, or one of life’s challenges and how that influences communication\nExploring strategies to support effective communication skills\n\nAnd from the End-of-Life Education Strategy: \n\n1.1b: Developing and maintaining communication with people about difficult and complex matters or situations related to end- of- life care\n1.1g: Examine knowledge/research of the importance of breaking bad news and to develop strategies for the skills delivery of bad news\n\nThis Advance Communication Skills course cost includes tea\, coffee and biscuits throughout the days.  Please bring your own lunch\, or lunch can be ordered at additional cost on the morning of each day. \nBooking in advance is essential as places are limited.
