SUMMARY:Advanced Communication Skills
DESCRIPTION:This is a 2 day evidenced based Advanced Communication Skills course.\nThe Advanced Communication Skills course is set over 2 days where the successful applicant will devote to the whole course to enhance not only their own existing skillset but contribute to those of all the group participants.  Each day will run from 9.15am until 4.30pm. \nModels of communication will be addressed\, and the focus will be on the ‘SPIKES PLUS’ model currently in use across most of the country. \nExperience within the field of advanced communication is essential at a senior level and as a base line requirement onto this course. The course is open to all healthcare professionals who are constantly having to deal with those difficult communication scenarios that require the skills to both support and to challenge at times\, those that they face regularly. \nIt is an experiential course which includes role-play for which all participants will take part in live\, as realistically as possible\, the shared experience. \nBuilding upon existing skills\, participants will take away not only fresh and innovative ideas gained from the design of this Advanced Communication Skills course\, but also will benefit from the safety and experience from the trained facilitators throughout. \nNetworking will give an opportunity for the course participants to support each other\, not only during the education and training\, but also post-course\, along with that of the ongoing support as needed\, by the facilitators. \nA certificate will be awarded upon completion of the session. \nLearning outcomes for the Advanced Communication Skills training\nAimed at a senior level of healthcare professional\, this Advanced Communication Skills Course will offer the individual Practitioner: \n\nUnderstanding of the importance of effective communication\nUnderstanding how to reduce the barriers to effective communication\nIdentifying your own communication skills strengths and weaknesses\nUnderstanding the emotional impact on people and their families who are living with disease a potentially a life-limiting illness\, or one of life’s challenges and how that influences communication\nExploring strategies to support effective communication skills\n\nAnd from the End-of-Life Education Strategy: \n\n1.1b: Developing and maintaining communication with people about difficult and complex matters or situations related to end- of- life care\n1.1g: Examine knowledge/research of the importance of breaking bad news and to develop strategies for the skills delivery of bad news\n\nThis Advance Communication Skills course cost includes tea\, coffee and biscuits throughout the days.  Please bring your own lunch\, or lunch can be ordered at additional cost on the morning of each day. \nBooking in advance is essential as places are limited. SUMMARY:Advanced Communication Skills
DESCRIPTION:This is a 2 day evidenced based Advanced Communication Skills course.\nThe Advanced Communication Skills course is set over 2 days where the successful applicant will devote to the whole course to enhance not only their own existing skillset but contribute to those of all the group participants.  Each day will run from 9.15am until 4.30pm. \nModels of communication will be addressed\, and the focus will be on the ‘SPIKES PLUS’ model currently in use across most of the country. \nExperience within the field of advanced communication is essential at a senior level and as a base line requirement onto this course. The course is open to all healthcare professionals who are constantly having to deal with those difficult communication scenarios that require the skills to both support and to challenge at times\, those that they face regularly. \nIt is an experiential course which includes role-play for which all participants will take part in live\, as realistically as possible\, the shared experience. \nBuilding upon existing skills\, participants will take away not only fresh and innovative ideas gained from the design of this Advanced Communication Skills course\, but also will benefit from the safety and experience from the trained facilitators throughout. \nNetworking will give an opportunity for the course participants to support each other\, not only during the education and training\, but also post-course\, along with that of the ongoing support as needed\, by the facilitators. \nA certificate will be awarded upon completion of the session. \nLearning outcomes for the Advanced Communication Skills training\nAimed at a senior level of healthcare professional\, this Advanced Communication Skills Course will offer the individual Practitioner: \n\nUnderstanding of the importance of effective communication\nUnderstanding how to reduce the barriers to effective communication\nIdentifying your own communication skills strengths and weaknesses\nUnderstanding the emotional impact on people and their families who are living with disease a potentially a life-limiting illness\, or one of life’s challenges and how that influences communication\nExploring strategies to support effective communication skills\n\nAnd from the End-of-Life Education Strategy: \n\n1.1b: Developing and maintaining communication with people about difficult and complex matters or situations related to end- of- life care\n1.1g: Examine knowledge/research of the importance of breaking bad news and to develop strategies for the skills delivery of bad news\n\nThis Advance Communication Skills course cost includes tea\, coffee and biscuits throughout the days.  Please bring your own lunch\, or lunch can be ordered at additional cost on the morning of each day. \nBooking in advance is essential as places are limited. DESCRIPTION:Our BD BodyGuard T Syringe Pump training course is designed to provide practical set up experience for Registered Nurses using this equipment for subcutaneous use on adults.\nThis BD BodyGuard T Syringe Pump training is suitable for first time users and staff requiring an annual update\, and counts as 3 hours towards Continuing Professional Development required by the Nursing and Midwifery Council. \nThe training will include\n\nTheory: Clinical governance\, duties and responsibilities\, indications for use\, preparation\, record keeping and troubleshooting\nPractical: Simulation and assessment in the first time set up of syringe pump/change of prescription and replacement syringes\nPre-course reading: Local Policy & Procedure for the use of BD BodyGuard Syringe Pump.\n\nTo enable the user to be\n\nCompetent and confident in the use of the BD BodyGuard T Syringe Pump\nDemonstrate an understanding of the functions and limitations of the device\nRecognise and interpret alerts\, alarms and troubleshooting\nExplain the rationale and clinical decision making for use of the device\n\nA certificate will be awarded on successful completion of the simulated practical assessment and accurate completion of the Learning Checklist. \nCourse cost includes refreshments. \n  \nFind details of alternative dates\, venues and other courses we offer HERE.

DESCRIPTION:Our Verification of Death training is suitable for registered Healthcare Professionals and also for nominated Healthcare Support Workers from care homes providing end of life care\, to be able to verify the expected death of a resident/patient.\nThis verification of death course is an evidence-based\, clinical course to deliver the knowledge and competencies necessary to verify death. \nEssential Requirements\nAttendees should be \na registered Healthcare Professional\, or\na nominated Healthcare Support Worker from a care home \nThe Verification of Death training session will cover \n\nKnowledge and understanding of policy\, procedure and legal framework\nRecognising contraindications and the role of the coroner\nProcedural differences between an expected and unexpected death\nRespecting the dignity\, religious and cultural needs of the patient\, carer and family\nDemonstrating the verification of death process through simulated practice\n\nThe training session counts as 3 hours towards Continuing Professional Development. \nCourse cost includes refreshments. \n  \nFind details of alternative dates\, venues and other courses we offer HERE.
